Dr. Etienne Hugo is one of only 26 lawyers accredited as a specialist in Immigration Law by the Law Society of New South Wales. He is also a registered migration agent (MARN: 0004435), a member of the Migration Institute of Australia, and a solicitor of the High Court of Australia.

He holds a doctorate in law (LLD) from the University of Pretoria, where he also lectured and is licensed as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa. Dr. Hugo has taught postgraduate migration law at the Australian National University and has practiced exclusively in Australian immigration law since 2000.

Before co-founding Versfeld and Hugo, LLC in 2007, he was a Senior Associate at a leading immigration law firm in Sydney. His academic background includes lecturing roles in South Africa and doctoral research in the Netherlands.
